Bucks guard Damian Lillard is feared to have suffered a torn left Achilles tendon during Milwaukee’s Game 4 loss to the Pacers on Sunday night, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.
Lillard sustained the injury on a non-contact play after tipping an offensive rebound from the top of the key to a teammate. He immediately went to the ground and was unable to put weight on his left leg. He needed assistance leaving the court.
The injury is a devastating blow for the Bucks and for Lillard, a nine-time All-Star. The 34-year-old had returned to action in Game 2 after missing more than a month with a blood clot in his right calf. He had been cleared of deep vein thrombosis and blood-thinning medication only 10 days ago.
Lillard averaged 24.9 points, 7.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals during the regular season, shooting 44.8% from the field, 37.6% from three-point range, and 92.1% from the free-throw line over 36.1 minutes per game.
Although he would have been a strong All-NBA candidate, Lillard did not qualify due to the league’s 65-game minimum, appearing in 58 games this season.
He struggled offensively in Games 2 and 3, shooting 24% from the field and averaging 10.5 points across 34.5 minutes.
If tests confirm a torn Achilles, Lillard could miss the entire 2025-26 season. He is owed approximately $54.1 million next season and holds a player option worth $58.5 million for the 2026-27 campaign, potentially complicating Milwaukee’s financial outlook.
The Pacers lead the series, 3-1, and will get a chance to close it out in Game 5 at home.
