According to Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James could join Amazon Prime’s NBA coverage after he retires.

James, 40, has one year left on his contract with the Lakers. It’s a player option worth $52.6 million.

“Where there’s smoke, there’s fire between LeBron James and Amazon,” McCarthy wrote. “The growing business relationship between the basketball superstar and the nation’s largest retailer could lead to King James eventually joining Prime Video’s upcoming coverage of the NBA, sources tell Front Office Sports.”

James has a successful podcast, “Mind the Game,” with Hall of Famer Steve Nash. The podcast has over 778,000 followers on YouTube.

The leading scorer in NBA history, James wants to own a basketball franchise after he retires. Now, it appears The King could become a broadcaster like NFL great Tom Brady.

The Buss family is entering an agreement to sell majority ownership of the Lakers to Mark Walter for $10 billion. Walter now owns the Lakers and Los Angeles Dodgers.

According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, a source close to James suggested that Walter could be a valuable resource for James as he pursues his post-playing career goal of one day owning an NBA franchise.

The Lakers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of this year’s playoffs in five games. James, 40, averaged 25.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.8 blocks in the five-game series. He suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee in Game 5.

James is the oldest active player in the NBA. He averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 8.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.6 blocks for the Lakers this season in 70 games.

Arguably the best player of all time, James has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers (twice), Miami Heat and Lakers. He has career averages of 27.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.7 blocks.
